Tiaras Worn as Crown Princess of Denmark
1. The Ruby Parure Tiara
Queen Mary of Denmark’s most iconic and frequently worn tiara, the Ruby Parure, is a striking set of red rubies and white diamonds, echoing the colours of the Danish flag. Originally crafted for Désirée Clary (later Queen Desideria of Sweden) to wear at Napoleon Bonaparte’s coronation in 1804, the set entered the Danish royal collection in 1869 through the marriage of Princess Lovisa of Sweden to the future King Frederik VIII. Worn famously by Queen Ingrid, the tiara was transformed from a set of hair ornaments and passed down to Crown Prince Frederik after Ingrid’s death in 2000, intended for his future wife.
