Royal Fashion Weekly Best Looks (30 June - 6 July 2025)
My top 3 royal looks of the week with personal commentary
Look 1: Queen Mathilde of Belgium in Giorgio Armani
This week, Queen Mathilde’s pale blush Giorgio Armani dress quietly stole my top spot - not necessarily because of the dress alone, but because of how beautifully it was presented. It’s one of those great reminders that visual context really can elevate a look. Case in point: the striking bouquet of deep purple alliums she was handed. The contrast between the soft, muted tone of the dress and the bold, sculptural flowers created such a memorable image - it made the entire ensemble pop in a way it simply hadn’t before.
As far as I last checked (or heard), Queen Mathilde, along with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Queen Máxima, and Queen Rania, doesn’t work with a dedicated personal stylist. Instead, they often collaborate directly with designers, and over time they tend to stick with a familiar, tight circle of trusted fashion houses. For Mathilde, Giorgio Armani is one of those go-to names - consistent, classic, and refined.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this dress. Queen Mathilde first wore it back in May 2024, during the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition for Violin at Bozar in Brussels. That appearance was polished, but it didn’t make much of a lasting impression. Without the contrast of a strong accessory - like this week’s bouquet - the look felt a bit muted and didn’t quite carry the same visual punch.
